Oliva Rama Holidays
Lithuania Winter Weekend
14th - 18th February Cost - ₤500
This
is a unique opportunity for birdwatchers and bird photographers alike, to get to
see some truly fantastic species at very close quarters from the comfort of a
log cabin. Lithuanian based guide (& friend) Jos Stratford has kindly agreed to
allow me to run a Winter Short Break using his own private land where he has set
up a wonderful feeding station affording fantastic views of various species of
woodpeckers, tits, and finches from a purpose-built cabin. Being resident he
also has an intimate knowledge of where to find the more elusive species,
especially owls and time will be taken to look for them in their daylight
roosts. Finally we shall also make an overnight excursion to the Baltic
coastline, giving us a good chance of seeing it's wintering population of
Steller's Eider, plus a variety of other seabirds.
This superb photo of a Grey headed Woodpecker was taken by renowned Bird Photographer Paul Hackett at this feeding station.
What this trip offers:
In the heart of Labanoras forest, a bonanza of good woodpeckers - Great, Middle & Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers, plus Grey-headed Woodpecker, all coming to a feeding station, designed for photographic needs. Black Woodpecker also resident.
