Oliva Rama Tours offers 'value for money' tours to various areas of the Western Mediterranean & inland. We offer Half & Full Day Tours and our very popular Valencian Short Break, which covers all the major sites around the region, whilst staying at our comfortable guesthouse. The Valencia, Alicante, & Albacete Regions have a great deal to offer the travelling & holidaying birdwatcher with plenty of different habitats with many quality species. These include Little Bittern, White-headed & Marbled Duck, Golden & Bonelli's & Golden Eagle, Purple Gallinule, Audouin's & Slender billed Gulls, Great & Little Bustard, Black-bellied & Pin-tailed Sandgrouse, Eagle Owl, Red-necked Nightjar, Rufous Bushchat, Moustached Warbler, Black Wheatear, Trumpeter Finch and many more (see Bird List). It also boasts two of the most accessible airports in Europe with Alicante & Valencia, and in-expensive flights can be found with a little searching on the internet (see links page). Being a very popular for tourism in general there is plenty for the non-birdwatching members of the family/group to occupy their time.

I have spent a lot of time birdwatching the well known sites around the region and the best times to visit them, as well as investigating other new areas. I am very confident I can provide a quality service at a very competitive rate in this bird-rich area. It is my intention to maintain a very enjoyable and relaxed pace during the tour that will suit all needs. During the day's out we shall also look for other species of fauna & flora although flower identification is not my strong point and any help would be appreciated.

My local patch is the 'Marjel de Oliva/Pego' which has currently got minor reserve status and is under tremendous pressure from developers, hunters and illegal fishermen. However recently there has been some investment into the wetlands with creation of a new scrape and the promise of a viewing platform. It is my wish to ensure the safety of this wonderful marsh by raising the profile of it's breeding, resident, and passage species. It has currently the densest population of Moustached Warblers in the whole of Valencia, a bird in serious decline throughout mainland Spain. It is a fantastic place for birdwatching and bird photography as you are able to still find a few quiet corners where the birds are very confiding.

Check out my Birding Diary for up to the minute information on species in the area. Also if your planning a trip of your own please do not hesitate to fill in our Enquiry Form or Contact Us through e-mail for any useful site/species information you might require
